During 2019 there were two networking events in Cambridge organised by The Bricklayers Brunch. The first was in May 2019 at Heong Gallery which is on the Downing College site. Artists, curators and writers attended an evening event to hear a talk that I gave about networking in the art world. Afterwards we gathered in one large circle and  introduced ourselves one by one. It was also an opportunity to see the print show ‘The Art of Collaboration’ (which was up at the time), and to meet with Exhibitions and Programming Manager Dr Prerona Prasad.

The second event was organised by curator of The New Hall Art Collection, Harriet Loffler. The New Hall Art Collection is a collection of modern and contemporary art by women on display at Murray Edwards College.

The Collection, which was founded in 1986 with the acquisition of Mary Kelly’s six-part work Extase, has evolved through gifts and loans from artists and alumnae. It now includes over 500 works by artists of international quality and renown – including Dame Paula Rego, Maggi Hambling CBE, Cornelia Parker RA, Sandra Blow RA, Lubaina Himid and Judy Chicago – and is considered to be one of the largest and most significant collections of contemporary art by women in the world.

Curator of the college’s all women art collection, Harriet Loffler, gave a talk about the collection and afterwards there was networking in the college bar.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prerona and Harriet for hosting!
